Estimated Native Range
Summary
Acacia iteaphylla, commonly known as Flinders Range Wattle, is an evergreen shrub native to the semi-arid regions of South Australia, particularly found in plains and scrublands. This species is well-adapted to its native dry environment, with a weeping habit and typically reaching a height and crown width of 2 to 5 meters (6.6 to 16.4 ft). It produces showy yellow flowers from late winter to early spring (March to September in the Southern Hemisphere), with the blooms arranged in small spherical clusters located in the phyllode forks, providing a splash of color and attracting pollinators.
Flinders Range Wattle is valued for its fast growth, attractive weeping foliage, and ability to provide quick screening or serve as a low windbreak in gardens. It is also noted for its resilience, tolerating saline soils, frost, and drought conditions once established. Full sun to partial shade is suitable for this shrub, and it thrives in well-drained soils. The cultivar Acacia "Parsons Cascade" is a popular low-growing form that is often used in ornamental plantings. However, gardeners should be aware of its potential invasiveness outside its native range and check local regulations before planting.CC BY-SA 4.0
