Summary
Agave beauleriana, commonly known as Majestic Agave, is an evergreen succulent plant native to the arid and semi-arid regions of Mexico. It can grow to a height of 2-3 feet (0.6-0.9 meters) with an equal spread. The Majestic Agave has a striking rosette form with thick, fleshy leaves that are blue-green to gray-green in color, often with a spine at the tip and marginal teeth along the edges. While it rarely flowers in cultivation, when it does, the flowers are impressive, rising on a tall stalk above the foliage, with funnel-shaped, yellow blooms that attract pollinators. Flowering typically occurs once in the plant’s lifetime, after which the plant usually dies.
The Majestic Agave is valued for its drought tolerance and architectural form, making it a popular choice for xeriscaping, rock gardens, and as a focal point in drought-tolerant landscapes. It thrives in full sun and requires very little water once established, making it an excellent plant for water-wise gardening. It is important to plant it in well-draining soil to prevent root rot. While generally low-maintenance, it can be susceptible to agave snout weevil, which can damage or kill the plant.CC BY-SA 4.0
