Ajania pacifica, commonly known as Gold and Silver Chrysanthemum, is a perennial herb native to coastal regions and cliffs along the Pacific coast of Honshu, Japan, where it thrives in well-drained soils. It typically grows to a height of 12 inches (30 cm) and spreads to 18 inches (45 cm), forming a dense, mounded clump. The plant is characterized by its silver-edged, green leaves and clusters of small, button-like yellow flowers that bloom in late fall, providing a late-season nectar source for pollinators.

Gold and Silver Chrysanthemum is valued for its decorative foliage and late-blooming flowers, which add color to the garden when many other plants have finished flowering. It is commonly used in border plantings, rock gardens, and as a ground cover due to its low-growing habit and ease of maintenance. This plant prefers full sun to part shade and requires well-drained soil. It is drought-tolerant once established, making it suitable for xeriscaping.
