Estimated Native Range
Summary
Ambrosia deltoidea, commonly known as Triangleleaf Bursage, is a deciduous subshrub or shrub native to the Sonoran Desert in the Southwestern USA and Northern Mexico. It typically reaches a height and width of approximately 2 feet (0.6 meters), featuring a compact, rounded form. Triangleleaf Bursage is well-adapted to arid environments, thriving in desert scrub communities where it contributes to the stability of the ecosystem by providing cover for wildlife and preventing soil erosion.
Triangleleaf Bursage is valued for its drought tolerance and ability to thrive in harsh desert conditions, making it a suitable choice for xeriscaping and naturalistic desert gardens. Its gray-green foliage and inconspicuous greenish flowers, which bloom from March to November, are not particularly showy, but they blend well with other desert plants. It is often used for habitat restoration and erosion control. This plant requires minimal maintenance, needing very little water once established and growing well in poor, well-drained soils. It prefers full sun but can tolerate part shade. While generally disease-free, it can be susceptible to root rot if overwatered.CC BY-SA 4.0
