Summary
Anemone reflexa, commonly known as Reflexed Anemone, is a perennial herb that is native to alpine meadows and subalpine zones, often found in regions with cool, moist climates. This species is particularly associated with the mountainous areas of Central and Southern Europe. It typically grows to a height of 10–30 cm and produces single, white flowers that can occasionally be pale pink or pale bluish. The flowers are about two centimeters in diameter and have five to nine (usually six) elliptical tepals, blooming from April through June. The rhizome is whitish, located just below the surface, and is known for forming dense clonal colonies.
Reflexed Anemone is appreciated for its delicate flowers and its ability to form attractive ground cover in garden settings. It is often used in rock gardens, woodland gardens, and borders due to its modest size and appealing floral display. The plant is relatively easy to maintain, requiring medium amounts of water and thriving in soils with medium drainage. It prefers full sun to part shade, making it versatile for various garden designs. While generally disease-free, it can be susceptible to root rot if overwatered or planted in poorly drained soils.CC BY-SA 4.0
