Arachis glabrata var. hagenbeckii, commonly known as Rhizoma Peanut, Ornamental Peanut, or Perennial Peanut, is a perennial herb native to the open grasslands and savannas of South America. It typically grows at a moderate rate to a height of 0.5-1 feet (0.15-0.3 meters) and spreads 1-3 feet (0.3-0.9 meters) wide. This ground cover plant is characterized by its dense, low-growing habit and its small, yellow, pea-like flowers that are quite showy when they bloom in the summer. The foliage is also attractive, with fine-textured leaves that provide a lush green appearance throughout the growing season.

Rhizoma Peanut is valued for its drought tolerance and ability to fix nitrogen in the soil, making it a beneficial plant for improving soil fertility. It is commonly used in cultivation for erosion control, as a turf alternative, and in mixed perennial borders due to its ease of maintenance and attractive foliage. It thrives in full sun to part shade and prefers medium to fast-draining sandy or loamy soils. While it requires medium amounts of water, once established, it is quite drought-resistant.
