Summary

Armeria ruscinonensis, commonly known as Thrift Seapink, is an evergreen perennial herb native to coastal areas, cliff tops, and rocky slopes in the Mediterranean region, particularly in France and Spain. It typically grows to a height of 0.7-1 feet (0.2-0.3 meters) and a width of 0.3-0.8 feet (0.09-0.2 meters). Thrift Seapink forms dense, cushion-like tufts of narrow, grass-like leaves. From late spring to early summer, it produces rounded clusters of bright purple flowers atop slender, leafless stalks, which are highly attractive to pollinators.

Thrift Seapink is valued for its low maintenance, drought tolerance, and ability to thrive in poor soils, making it an excellent choice for rock gardens, coastal gardens, and green roofs. It is also used in borders and as ground cover. This plant prefers full sun exposure and well-drained soils, and once established, it requires minimal watering. It is not prone to serious pests or diseases, but in poorly drained soils, it may suffer from root rot. Its salt tolerance makes it particularly suitable for seaside planting.CC BY-SA 4.0
