Brickellia eupatorioides, commonly known as False Boneset, is a deciduous perennial subshrub or herb native to a variety of habitats including open woodlands, prairies, grasslands, and along stream banks across the USA to Mexico. It typically grows to a height of 1-4 feet (0.3-1.2 meters) and a width of 0.8-2 feet (0.2-0.6 meters). The plant features clusters of small, fluffy flowers that are usually cream or pale yellow, blooming in late summer to fall. These flowers are not particularly showy but do attract pollinators such as butterflies and bees.
False Boneset is valued for its adaptability to different soil types and its drought tolerance once established, making it a suitable choice for naturalistic plantings and wildflower gardens. It is also used in restoration projects and as a border plant in cultivated gardens. This plant thrives in full sun to part shade and prefers well-drained soils but can tolerate slower drainage. While generally low-maintenance, it can be susceptible to powdery mildew in humid conditions.
