Chrysosplenium lanuginosum, commonly known as Woolly Golden Saxifrage, is a semi-evergreen perennial herb native to moist, shady forest floors and stream banks in the East Himalaya, Nepal, and China. It typically forms low-growing mats reaching a height of 0.1-0.2 feet (0.03-0.06 meters) and a width of 0.8-1 feet (0.2-0.3 meters). The plant has a creeping habit with rounded, slightly hairy leaves that contribute to its common name. Woolly Golden Saxifrage produces clusters of small, star-shaped yellow flowers in the spring, which are modest in appearance but can add a subtle charm to shady garden spots.

This plant is valued for its ability to thrive in damp, shady conditions where other plants may struggle, making it an excellent ground cover for woodland gardens, shaded borders, or along stream banks. It prefers consistently moist soil and cool environments, and it can be used to create a naturalistic planting scheme in areas mimicking its native habitat. Woolly Golden Saxifrage is relatively low maintenance, but gardeners should ensure it does not dry out and protect it from intense sun.
