Summary
Cissus verticillata, commonly known as Princess Vine, Seasonvine, Curtain Ivy, Pudding Withe, or Cabuya Corrá, is a fast-growing vine that thrives in the understory of tropical rainforests and in other moist, shaded environments in Central America, the Caribbean, and South America. It can reach a height of 10-20 feet (3-6 meters) and a width of 4-8 feet (1.2-2.4 meters). The vine’s foliage is lush and provides a dense cover, making it an excellent choice for creating a green curtain effect. Its flowers are small and green, blending in with the foliage, and bloom in the summer and fall, though they are not particularly showy. The vine is also known for its tendrils, which allow it to climb and spread over structures and other plants.
Princess Vine is valued for its rapid growth and dense foliage, which can provide quick coverage for trellises, fences, and other garden structures. It is often used for its ornamental foliage rather than its flowers. In cultivation, it prefers part shade to full shade, making it suitable for shaded gardens where other plants might struggle. It adapts well to medium or fast-draining loam or sandy soils and requires medium amounts of water. While it is generally low-maintenance, it can become invasive if not managed properly, so regular pruning is recommended to control its spread.CC BY-SA 4.0
