Cyanea angustifolia, also known as Narrow-leaf Cyanea, is a rare perennial herb endemic to the moist and wet forests of Hawaii, particularly on the islands of Kauai and Oahu. It is part of the bellflower family and is characterized by its narrow leaves and small, tubular flowers that are typically greenish-white in color. Cyanea angustifolia can grow to a height of 1-2 meters and has a flowering season that extends from late summer to early fall. The flowers are somewhat inconspicuous, but they are important for the survival of native Hawaiian bird species, which act as pollinators.

This plant is valued for its historical significance as a famine food by early Hawaiians, who cooked and ate the leaves of both Cyanea angustifolia and the endangered ʻakuʻaku (Cyanea platyphylla). In modern cultivation, it is primarily used for conservation purposes to maintain the biodiversity of Hawaiian ecosystems. Cyanea angustifolia requires a consistently moist environment, rich and well-drained soil, and partial to full shade conditions. It is not commonly found in nurseries but may be grown from seed or cuttings by those interested in native plant conservation.
