It typically grows to a height of 0.5-0.8 feet (15-24 cm) and a width of 1-2 feet (30-60 cm). This grass features delicate, airy flower panicles that rise above the foliage in summer, with a subtle green to golden color that can add a fine texture to garden compositions.

Slender Hairgrass is appreciated for its low maintenance requirements and its ability to thrive in a range of conditions from full sun to part shade. It is drought-tolerant once established, making it a suitable choice for xeriscaping and naturalistic plantings.
