It is native to open woodlands and grasslands in Central and South America. This ground-hugging plant typically reaches a height of 0.1-0.3 feet (0.03-0.09 meters) and spreads out to 0.7-1 feet (0.2-0.3 meters), forming a dense mat of foliage. Silverleaf Ponysfoot is characterized by its small, rounded, silvery leaves that create a shimmering effect in the landscape. It does not have notable flowers, but its foliage provides a unique texture and color contrast.

Silverleaf Ponysfoot is valued for its low maintenance and drought tolerance once established, making it an excellent choice for ground cover, rock gardens, and hanging baskets. It is also used to stabilize soil on slopes and banks. In cultivation, it prefers full sun to part shade and requires well-drained soil with moderate water.
