Summary

Disporopsis luzoniensis, commonly known as Evergreen Solomon’s Seal, is an evergreen perennial herb native to the understory of tropical forests in the Philippines. It typically grows to a height of 2 feet (0.6 meters) and a width of 1 foot (0.3 meters). This plant features arching stems with alternate, glossy, lance-shaped leaves and small, bell-shaped white flowers that hang from the leaf axils in spring and early summer. The flowers are subtly fragrant and may be followed by blackish berries.

Evergreen Solomon’s Seal is valued for its year-round foliage and delicate flowers, making it an excellent choice for shaded garden areas, woodland gardens, and as ground cover under larger plants. It thrives in humus-rich, well-drained soil and benefits from regular watering, especially during dry periods. While it prefers part shade to full shade, it can tolerate some sun if kept moist. It is not commonly affected by diseases or pests, but slugs and snails can sometimes be a problem. This plant is not known for aggressive roots or invasiveness, making it a well-behaved addition to the garden.CC BY-SA 4.0
