Disporopsis pernyi, commonly known as Evergreen Solomon’s Seal, is an evergreen perennial herb native to the understory of moist, shaded forests in Southern China and Taiwan. It typically grows to a height of 1-2 feet (0.3-0.6 meters) and a width of 0.8-1 feet (0.2-0.3 meters). This plant features arching stems with alternate, lance-shaped leaves and small, bell-shaped flowers that are cream, green, and white, blooming in the late spring to early summer. The flowers are subtly showy and often hidden beneath the foliage, followed by black berries in the fall.

Evergreen Solomon’s Seal is valued for its year-round foliage and delicate flowers, making it an excellent choice for shade gardens, woodland plantings, and as ground cover under trees. It is relatively low-maintenance, requiring minimal care once established. Gardeners should provide it with consistently moist soil rich in organic matter and protect it from strong winds. While generally disease-resistant, it can occasionally suffer from slug damage. This plant is not known for aggressive roots or significant disease problems but should be monitored for snail and slug damage.
