Summary

Erigeron karvinskianus, commonly known as Mexican Fleabane, is an evergreen perennial herb native to rocky and disturbed sites in Mexico and Central and South America. It typically forms a low mound up to 15 cm (5.9 in) high, spreading via woody rhizomes. The plant is characterized by its profuse daisy-like flowers, which bloom almost year-round in mild climates. Each flower head is about 1 cm (0.4 inches) across, with a yellow disc center and a fringe of 50 to 80 white to pinkish ray florets that become more pink with age. The flowers are highly attractive to pollinators.

Mexican Fleabane is valued for its long flowering season and its ability to soften hard landscapes when grown in wall crevices or between paving stones. It is also used in rock gardens, as a ground cover, and in containers. This plant is drought-tolerant once established and thrives in well-drained soil, preferring full sun to part shade. It has earned the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit for its garden performance. However, it can become invasive outside its native range, so gardeners should check local regulations before planting.CC BY-SA 4.0
