Erythrina humeana, commonly known as Dwarf Coral Tree or Natal Coral Tree, is a deciduous shrub or small tree native to the summer rainfall regions of Southern Africa. It typically grows to a height of 6-12 feet (2-4 meters) and a similar width, with a spreading habit. The Dwarf Coral Tree is characterized by its striking scarlet or crimson flowers that bloom in late spring to early summer, offering a showy display that is highly attractive to birds and pollinators. The bark is smooth and gray, and the tree may produce long brown seed pods after flowering.

In cultivation, Erythrina humeana is appreciated for its compact size, making it suitable for smaller gardens and spaces where a full-sized coral tree would be too large. It is often used as a specimen plant, in mixed borders, or as part of wildlife-friendly gardens. This species prefers full sun to partial shade and requires well-drained soil. It is drought-tolerant once established but benefits from regular watering during prolonged dry periods. While generally easy to maintain, it can be susceptible to pests such as borers and diseases like root rot if conditions are too wet.
