Summary

Euryops pectinatus, commonly known as Grey-Leaved Euryops, is an evergreen shrub native to rocky slopes and scrubland in South Africa. It typically grows to 1.5 m (4 ft 11 in) tall and wide, featuring silvery green, hairy leaves. Its bright yellow, daisy-like composite flowers, 5 cm (2 in) in diameter, are particularly showy and bloom from early summer through to autumn, extending into winter in mild climates. The fruit contains a single seed and may have myxogenic hairs or a pappus of bristles. All parts of the plant are toxic if ingested. Grey-Leaved Euryops is valued for its long flowering period and is used in urban landscaping, borders, and as a focal point in gardens. It thrives in full sun and well-drained soils, preferring sandy to loamy textures. While it requires protection from frost, it is drought-tolerant once established and has low water needs. This shrub has earned the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit for its ornamental qualities. Potential issues include susceptibility to aphids and root rot in poorly drained soils. It is not known for aggressive roots or significant disease problems.CC BY-SA 4.0
