Summary
Evolvulus glomeratus, commonly known as Blue Daze, is an evergreen subshrub native to Brazil and Paraguay, often found in open, sunny locations with well-drained soils. It is a low-growing plant, typically reaching up to 12 inches in height and spreading up to 35 inches wide. Blue Daze has a mounding growth habit with small, oval to oblong, light gray-green leaves that are covered in fine hairs, giving them a fuzzy texture. The plant is adorned with small, lavender-blue, funnel-shaped flowers throughout the summer and fall, which are highly attractive to pollinators such as bees and butterflies.
Blue Daze is valued for its continuous blooming habit and the charming color of its flowers, which add a tropical flair to gardens. It is commonly used in cultivation for border fronts, rock gardens, containers, and as a ground cover. This plant thrives in full sun and requires well-drained soil, preferably sandy or loamy. It is drought-tolerant once established, making it suitable for xeriscaping. While generally low-maintenance, it is sensitive to cold and should be protected from frost. Blue Daze is not known for aggressive roots or significant disease problems, but it can be susceptible to root rot if overwatered.CC BY-SA 4.0
