Fleischmannia sonorae, commonly known as Sonoran Thoroughwort, is a deciduous perennial herb that is native to the desert scrub and grasslands of the Southwestern United States and Northwest Mexico. It typically grows to a height of 2-3 feet (0.6-0.9 meters) and a width of 1-3 feet (0.3-0.9 meters). The plant has an upright form and produces clusters of small, fluffy purple flowers that bloom in the fall and winter, adding color to the garden during these seasons. The foliage is green and may have a slightly hairy texture.

Sonoran Thoroughwort is valued for its late-season blooms and its ability to attract pollinators such as butterflies. It is used in native plant gardens, xeriscaping, and as a border plant in areas that mimic its natural arid habitat. This plant is drought-tolerant once established and can thrive with minimal supplemental watering, making it suitable for low-water landscapes. It prefers well-drained soils and can tolerate a range of soil types, from sandy to loamy. While it can grow in full sun, it also does well in part shade, especially in hotter climates.
