Summary
Goodia lotifolia, commonly known as Golden Tip or Clover Tree, is a semi-deciduous shrub native to a variety of habitats in eastern Australia, including sheltered valleys, open eucalypt forests, and rainforest margins, from southeastern Queensland through New South Wales to Tasmania. It typically grows up to 13 feet (4 meters) tall and wide, with trifoliate leaves that are green above and silvery beneath. The bright yellow, pea-like flowers with red or brown markings appear in clusters from late winter to early summer (September to November in the Southern Hemisphere), and are highly attractive to bees and nectar-feeding birds. The fruit is an egg-shaped pod that follows the flowering season.
Golden Tip is valued for its vibrant yellow flowers and ability to attract wildlife. It is used in cultivation for ornamental purposes, often in shrub borders, informal hedges, and as a feature plant in native gardens. It prefers well-drained soils, moderate water, and thrives in full sun to part shade. While generally low-maintenance, it can be pruned to maintain shape and encourage denser foliage. It is not known for serious pest or disease problems, but may require protection from frost in cooler climates.CC BY-SA 4.0
