Summary

Grevillea iaspicula, commonly known as Wee Jasper Grevillea, is a rare and endangered shrub endemic to the limestone outcrops and rocky slopes of the Wee Jasper area in southern New South Wales, Australia. This evergreen shrub typically grows to a height of 1.2–2.5 m (3 ft 11 in – 8 ft 2 in) and features narrow leaves that are 20–30 mm (0.79–1.18 in) long with recurved margins. The Wee Jasper Grevillea is notable for its branched, pendant inflorescences that bear striking red flowers with contrasting styles, blooming from late autumn to late spring. The flowers are particularly showy and attract nectar-feeding birds.

The Wee Jasper Grevillea is valued for its adaptability to a range of soil types, responsiveness to pruning, and resistance to heavy frost, making it a suitable candidate for many gardens. It is often used in rockeries, as a specimen plant, or for habitat restoration projects. Although not widely available, it can be propagated from cuttings and is starting to gain popularity among specialist nurseries. In cultivation, it thrives in full sun to part shade, requires low amounts of water, and prefers soils with fast drainage. Gardeners should be aware that this species may be susceptible to root rot in poorly drained soils.CC BY-SA 4.0
