Estimated Native Range
Summary
Habranthus robustus, commonly known as Brazilian Copperlily, is a semi-deciduous perennial herb native to Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay. It typically grows to a height of 1 foot (0.3 meters) and a width of 0.5 feet (0.2 meters). This plant is characterized by its narrow, strap-like leaves and funnel-shaped, pink to coppery-pink flowers that appear on slender stalks in the spring and summer. The flowers are quite showy and can add a splash of color to garden borders or container plantings.
Brazilian Copperlily is valued for its attractive blooms and is often used in rock gardens, borders, and as a naturalizing plant in informal areas. It is relatively easy to maintain and can be propagated by dividing clumps or from seed. In cultivation, it prefers full sun but can tolerate light shade, and it requires medium to high amounts of water with well-draining soil to prevent bulb rot. While it is not typically prone to serious pests or diseases, it can be susceptible to bulb rot if overwatered or planted in poorly draining soils.CC BY-SA 4.0
