From late spring to early summer, it produces tall scapes, each bearing 3 to 9 sweetly fragrant, lemon-yellow flowers that are typically 7-10 cm (3-4 in) in diameter. The Yellow Daylily is one of the earliest daylily species used in hybridization, contributing to the development of numerous cultivars.
