Estimated Native Range
Summary
Heuchera rubescens, commonly known as Pink Alumroot, is an evergreen perennial herb native to rocky slopes, alpine regions, and forest clearings in the Intermountain West of the United States and parts of Mexico. It typically grows to a height of 1-2 feet (0.3-0.6 meters) and a width of about 1 foot (0.3 meters). This plant forms a basal rosette of rounded, lobed leaves, and its delicate panicles of bell-shaped flowers range in color from pink to red, blooming in the summer and fall and adding a splash of color to the garden.
Pink Alumroot is valued for its attractive foliage and flowers, which provide a long-lasting display in the garden. It is often used in rock gardens, woodland settings, and as a border plant. It requires well-drained soil and thrives in part shade, though it can tolerate more sun in cooler climates. While it prefers medium moisture, it is somewhat drought-tolerant once established. Pink Alumroot is relatively low maintenance but can be susceptible to root rot if overwatered or planted in poorly drained soils. It is also a good choice for attracting pollinators such as bees and butterflies.CC BY-SA 4.0
