Hydrangea kwangsiensis, commonly known as Yue Xi Xiu Qiu, is a deciduous shrub native to the forest margins and stream banks in the mountainous regions of South-Central China. It typically grows to a height of 4-7 feet (1.2-2.1 meters) and a width of 2-4 feet (0.6-1.2 meters). This Hydrangea species is characterized by its lush green foliage and large, showy flower clusters that bloom in spring, summer, and fall. The flowers are predominantly white, sometimes with a pale pink or blue tint depending on soil pH. Its bark is somewhat notable, peeling in thin layers with age.

Yue Xi Xiu Qiu is valued for its extended flowering season and the ornamental quality of its blooms, making it a popular choice for garden borders, foundation plantings, and as a specimen in mixed shrub borders. It is relatively easy to maintain, requiring only regular watering and occasional pruning to remove spent flowers and shape the plant. Hydrangea kwangsiensis thrives in moist, well-drained soils rich in organic matter and prefers a location with morning sun and afternoon shade to protect its blooms from intense heat.
