Summary

Jasminum parkeri, commonly known as Dwarf Jasmine, is an evergreen shrub native to the rocky slopes and scrublands of the western Himalayas. It typically grows to about one foot in height and is characterized by a mounded form with a dense mass of small stems and tiny, glossy, oval leaves. The plant produces profuse clusters of fragrant, bright yellow, 5-lobed, tubular flowers from the leaf axils in early summer, which are highly attractive to pollinators. The flowers are small but their abundance and fragrance make them quite showy.

Dwarf Jasmine is valued for its compact size, making it an excellent choice for container gardening or for use in small garden spaces. It can also be trained around a topiary form, adding structure and year-round interest to the garden. This plant is relatively low-maintenance, tolerating a range of light conditions from full sun to part shade. It prefers well-drained soils and can cope with low to medium water availability, making it suitable for xeriscaping or drought-prone areas. While generally pest-free, it can occasionally suffer from common jasmine issues such as scale insects or mealybugs.CC BY-SA 4.0
