Justicia longii, commonly known as Longflower Tube Tongue, is an evergreen perennial herb or subshrub native to arid and semi-arid regions, including desert washes and rocky slopes in the Southwestern United States and Mexico. It typically grows to a height and width of 1 foot (0.3 meters), forming a low, spreading mound. The plant is characterized by its tubular white flowers that are particularly adapted to pollination by moths, as they bloom in the evening and last for just one night. The long bloom season extends from April to October, creating a striking display as the spent flowers fall each morning, resembling a white carpet beneath the plant.

Longflower Tube Tongue is valued for its extended flowering period and its ability to attract nocturnal pollinators such as moths. It is suitable for xeriscaping, rock gardens, and as a border plant in areas with dry climates. Gardeners appreciate its low water requirements once established, and its adaptability to various soil types, provided they have good drainage.
