Estimated Native Range
Summary
Leptosiphon grandiflorus, commonly known as Largeflower Linanthus, is an annual herb native to the chaparral, coastal sage scrub, and open woodlands of California. It typically grows to a modest height of 10 to 50 centimeters. The plant features a hairy stem with sparse leaves, each divided into linear lobes up to 3 centimeters long. The inflorescence is a loose cluster of a few white or pinkish funnel-shaped flowers with lobes up to 1.5 centimeters long, blooming from April to July. The flowers are moderately showy and attract pollinators such as bees.
Largeflower Linanthus is appreciated for its delicate flowers and is often used in wildflower gardens, meadow plantings, and as a component in native plant landscaping. It is relatively easy to grow from seed and can be used to add color to sunny areas of the garden. This plant prefers full sun exposure and requires medium amounts of water with well-draining soil. While it is not known for significant problems, it can be susceptible to overwatering and poor drainage conditions. As an annual, it completes its life cycle in one growing season and reseeds for the following year.CC BY-SA 4.0
