Estimated Native Range
Summary
Leucothoe axillaris thrives in part shade to full shade and prefers moist, well-drained, acidic soils. It is relatively low-maintenance but benefits from mulching to retain soil moisture. While it requires low amounts of water once established, it should not be allowed to dry out completely. It is not typically prone to serious pests or diseases, but root rot can occur in poorly drained soils. This shrub is also resistant to deer browsing, making it a good choice for areas with high deer populations.CC BY-SA 4.0
