Summary

Lilium concolor, commonly known as Morning Star Lily, is a perennial herbaceous bulb native to forest margins, grassy slopes, and meadows in China, Japan, Korea, and Russia. It thrives at altitudes of 1,150 to 6,560 feet (350 to 2,000 meters). This lily reaches a height of 12 to 24 inches (30 to 60 cm) and produces star-shaped, glossy flowers ranging from orange-yellow to scarlet, typically in early to mid-summer. The flowers are quite showy and can add a splash of color to any garden setting.

The Morning Star Lily is valued for its striking flowers and is often used in borders, rock gardens, and as a cut flower due to its long vase life. It prefers well-drained, fertile soils and full sun to partial shade. While it is relatively low maintenance, it does require consistent moisture during the growing season. In cultivation, it is relatively disease-free but can be susceptible to lily beetle infestations. It is not known to be invasive and does not have aggressive roots, making it a safe choice for most garden settings.CC BY-SA 4.0
