Plectranthus strigosus, commonly known as Spurflower, is a semi-deciduous shrub native to the Eastern Cape of South Africa, where it thrives in shaded forest understories and along streambanks in moist, well-drained soils. It typically grows to a height of 2-3 feet (0.6-0.9 meters) and spreads to a similar width. The plant features soft, hairy leaves and produces spikes of tubular, pale blue to purple flowers that are quite showy during its flowering season in late summer to fall.

Spurflower is valued for its attractive foliage and flowers, which can add a splash of color to shady garden areas. It is easy to maintain, making it suitable for borders, container planting, or as a ground cover. In cultivation, Plectranthus strigosus prefers part shade to full shade, consistent moisture without waterlogging, and a rich, well-draining soil. It can be propagated easily from cuttings and is generally free from serious pests and diseases. However, it may be susceptible to root rot if overwatered.
