Prostanthera denticulata, commonly known as Rough Mintbush, is an evergreen shrub native to sclerophyll forests and woodland areas in Southeastern Australia. It typically grows to a height of 1 meter (3 feet 3 inches) and can spread up to 2 meters (6 feet 7 inches) wide. The plant has a somewhat straggling to almost prostrate growth habit and is known for its aromatic, narrow egg-shaped leaves. The purple to mauve flowers are showy and arranged in leaf axils or at the ends of branchlets, blooming profusely in spring and early summer. The branchlets are covered with short, flattened hairs, adding to the plant’s textured appearance.

Rough Mintbush is valued for its aromatic foliage and attractive flowers, making it a popular choice for ornamental gardens, native plantings, and as a sensory addition to herb gardens. It is also used for habitat restoration projects. This shrub is relatively easy to maintain, requiring minimal pruning and care once established. It is drought-tolerant, making it suitable for water-wise gardens. In cultivation, Rough Mintbush thrives in full sun to part shade and prefers soils with medium drainage.
