Summary

Prostanthera linearis, commonly known as Narrow-Leaved Mint-Bush, is an evergreen shrub native to the dry sclerophyll forests and rocky outcrops of Eastern Australia. It typically grows to a height of 1–3 m (3 ft 3 in – 9 ft 10 in) and features a dense, bushy habit with slender branches. The leaves are narrow, egg-shaped to linear, and emit a minty fragrance when crushed. During spring, it produces an abundance of small, tubular flowers that range from white to pinkish-mauve, adding a delicate splash of color to the garden.

Narrow-Leaved Mint-Bush is valued for its aromatic foliage and the profusion of flowers that attract beneficial insects, including bees. It is well-suited for use in mixed borders, as a fragrant hedge, or in rockeries. This shrub prefers a sunny position and can tolerate a range of soil types, provided they are well-draining. It is relatively drought-tolerant once established, requiring only occasional watering during extended dry periods. While generally low-maintenance, it benefits from light pruning to maintain its shape and promote denser growth.CC BY-SA 4.0
