Summary
Ranunculus inundatus, commonly known as River Buttercup, is a deciduous perennial herb native to aquatic and semi-aquatic environments such as floodplains, temporary watercourses, and wetlands in Eastern and Southern Australia. It typically grows to a height of 0.2-0.3 feet (0.06-0.09 meters) and can spread to about 3 feet (0.9 meters) wide. The plant forms a low mat of bright green, finely divided foliage, and its small, shiny yellow flowers bloom in the spring and summer, adding a splash of color to water gardens.
River Buttercup is valued for its ability to thrive in wet conditions, making it an excellent choice for water gardens, pond margins, and bog gardens. It prefers full sun to part shade and requires consistently moist to aquatic conditions, ideally in soils with standing water or slow-moving streams. While it is not a demanding plant in terms of maintenance, it can spread rapidly in suitable conditions, so care should be taken to control its growth in smaller water features.CC BY-SA 4.0
