Sedum lineare, commonly known as Needle Stonecrop, is an evergreen perennial succulent native to rocky slopes and crevices in East Asia, particularly in China and Japan. This plant typically grows to a height of 0.3-0.5 feet (0.09-0.15 meters) and spreads 0.5-1 feet (0.15-0.3 meters) wide. Needle Stonecrop has a sprawling habit with needle-like leaves that are often tinged with pink or yellow edges. It produces clusters of star-shaped flowers in shades of yellow, which bloom in the summer and are moderately showy, attracting pollinators such as bees and butterflies.

Needle Stonecrop is valued for its drought tolerance and ease of maintenance, making it a popular choice for rock gardens, green roofs, and as ground cover in xeriscaping. It is also used in container plantings and as a border plant in gardens. This succulent prefers full sun but can tolerate part shade and requires very little water once established, thriving in well-drained soils. It is not prone to many diseases but can suffer from root rot if overwatered. Sedum lineare is also appreciated for its ability to survive in poor soils and its resistance to pests and diseases.
