The plant features palmately compound leaves and bears small, showy clusters of pink to purplish flowers with long stamens that are attractive to bees, hence the common name. Flowering occurs in summer and early fall. The plant is known for its fast growth rate and is often found in disturbed areas, agricultural lands, and along roadsides in its native range.
