Summary
Tetraneuris scaposa, commonly known as Four-Nerve Daisy, is an evergreen perennial herb or subshrub native to open grasslands, rocky outcrops, and prairies in the Central United States and Northern Mexico. It typically grows up to 40 cm (16 inches) tall and is characterized by its branching underground caudex, which can produce numerous above-ground stems. The leaves are basal, narrow, and linear, forming a low rosette at the ground level. The plant is notable for its bright yellow flower heads, each with 12–26 ray flowers encircling 25–180 disc flowers, blooming from early spring to late fall, providing a long-lasting display of color.
Four-Nerve Daisy is valued for its drought tolerance and long blooming period, making it a suitable choice for xeriscaping, rock gardens, and border fronts. It thrives in full sun or part shade and requires minimal water once established, preferring well-drained soils. This plant is relatively low-maintenance, but it can benefit from deadheading to promote continuous flowering. It is not commonly associated with serious disease or pest problems, although overwatering can lead to root rot.CC BY-SA 4.0
