Thalictrum ichangense, commonly known as Chinese Meadow Rue, is a deciduous perennial herb native to the moist, shaded woodland areas and along stream banks in Eastern Asia, particularly in China. It typically grows to a height of 0.5-1 feet (0.2-0.3 meters) and a width of 0.5-3 feet (0.2-0.9 meters). The plant features delicate, lacy foliage and bears small, fluffy clusters of pink and purple flowers in the spring and summer, which are subtly showy and add a soft texture to garden spaces.

Chinese Meadow Rue is valued for its airy foliage and charming flowers, which make it an excellent choice for woodland gardens, shaded borders, and naturalized areas. It is also suitable for planting under deciduous trees where it can enjoy dappled sunlight. This plant prefers consistently moist soil and can tolerate more water than many other perennials, making it a good choice for areas with medium to high moisture availability. It thrives in part shade to full shade and benefits from soil with good organic content and medium drainage.
