Thysanolaena latifolia, commonly known as Asian Broom Grass, is an evergreen perennial grass native to grasslands, steep hillsides, sandy banks of rivers, and damp steep banks along ravines in South and Southeast Asia, as well as the Pacific Islands. It can grow to a height of 6-10 feet and a width of 6-12 feet, and is characterized by its long, arching leaves and feathery flower panicles that can add a soft texture to garden landscapes. The plant is particularly prevalent in Nepal, where it is found up to an altitude of 2000 meters, and is adapted to a variety of soil conditions, though it thrives best in fertile soils.

Asian Broom Grass is valued for its low maintenance requirements and its ability to stabilize soil on slopes, making it useful for erosion control. It is also grown as an ornamental grass in tropical gardens for its graceful appearance and the movement it adds to the landscape. In cultivation, it prefers full sun to partial shade and requires moderate watering, with good drainage to prevent root rot.
