Verbena litoralis, commonly known as Seashore Vervain or Brazilian Vervain, is a perennial herb native to a wide range of habitats including grasslands, open woodlands, and roadsides from Mexico to Argentina and Chile. It has a variable height, typically growing from 16 inches to over 3 feet tall. The plant features erect, rough-haired stems and lance-shaped leaves, and it produces small, delicate purple to lilac flowers in tight clusters at the stem tips, blooming from late spring to early fall. The flowers are not particularly showy but do attract butterflies and other pollinators.

Seashore Vervain is appreciated for its drought tolerance and ability to thrive in poor soils, making it a suitable choice for xeriscaping and naturalized areas. It is also used in butterfly gardens due to its attractiveness to pollinators. In cultivation, it requires minimal care, thriving in full sun to part shade and preferring well-drained soils. While it can be grown in a variety of soil types, it is important to avoid waterlogged conditions.
